Call for Entries: 5th WRSA “Dual Innovation” Competition – Biomedical Industry Track (Guangzhou, Guangdong)

Organised by the Western Returned Scholars Association (WRSA), the 5th “Dual Innovation” Competition – Biomedical Industry Track is now open for applications. The competition focuses on full-industry-chain innovation in biopharmaceuticals and invites high-level overseas talent and start-up teams to participate.

Key focus areas include innovative drugs & high-end formulations, novel vaccines, high-end medical devices, IVD & precision diagnostics, cell & gene therapy, brain science, oncology, and marine biomedicine.

Timeline

• Application deadline: 31 August 2026, 24:00
• Preliminary selection: September 2026
• Semi-finals & Finals: October 2026 (Nansha, Guangzhou)
• National Finals: November–December 2026

Awards

• First Prize: RMB 80,000
• Second Prize: RMB 50,000
• Third Prize: RMB 30,000

Projects that land in Nansha will also receive dedicated industry, talent and technology support packages.

Note for HKUMed researchers

Under the competition rules, education received in Hong Kong is classified as overseas education. Teams or applicants that have established a company registered in mainland China are eligible to apply under the Startup Group (創業組), while those that do not have a mainland China registered enterprise should apply under the Creative Group (創意組).
