Prof. Edmund LEE

Prof. Edmund LEE is Professor of Practice at the Centre for Financial Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He earned his BBA in Management Information Systems from the Tippie College of Business, University of Iowa, and an MSc in Systems Engineering and Engineering Management from CUHK.
With more than two decades of experience in technology incubation, financing, investment strategy, and cross‑industry collaboration, Professor Lee focuses on innovation and the practical application of financial technology.
Before joining academia, he spent ten years in banking and later founded multiple ventures in artificial intelligence, fintech, robotics, new materials, medicine, and the low‑altitude economy. He has supported numerous startups at Hong Kong Science Park, Cyberport, and local universities, helping transform pioneering ideas into market‑ready solutions. He also served as Executive Director of a Hong Kong‑listed technology company.
Professor Lee has been instrumental in shaping Hong Kong’s innovation ecosystem through extensive public service. He was Founding Vice President of the Hong Kong Science Park Startups Alumni Association (SAA), Board Member of the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI), Chairman of ASTRI FinTech Limited, and a member of the Innovation and Technology Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).
He currently serves on the Standing Committee on Legal Education and Training, the Innovation and Technology Fund Assessment Panel, and the Advisory Board of INNOHK AiDLab. He is also a School Council member at the Academy of Innovation (Confucius Hall) and holds advisory positions at leading universities in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou.
His research and teaching interests include technology entrepreneurship, fintech innovation, venture financing, and the commercialization of emerging technologies.
