We were delighted to co-host the RAISe+ 2026 Kick-Off & Start-up Funding Unlock – #HKUMed Special yesterday (25 June 2026). With the venue almost at full capacity, the turnout showcased the strong passion within our biomedical innovation community for translating research into real-world impact.

From thought‑provoking opening remarks by Joshua W. K. Ho (Assistant Dean, HKUMed) and an introduction to the RAISe+ scheme by Pierre Wang (HKU Versitech Limited), to an honest panel discussion on the typical hurdles academics encounter on their entrepreneurial journey in Hong Kong, the afternoon was rich in practical insights and actionable strategies.

Key highlights included:

A panel discussion with Dr Abby Gao (DEFTA Partners), Jackson Chung (Gobi Partners) and Oliver Chen (Beyond Ventures), moderated by our Special Guest Liu Hao, Founder & CEO of 浩悦资本 HaoYue Capital.

Focused sessions covered:

- Communicating with Mainland Governments

- Opportunities in AIDD (AI Drug Discovery)

- An Overview of Investment Hotspots in the Primary-Market Innovative Drug Sector

- Interpretation of Order No. 818 (818號令)

We rounded off the day with valuable one-to-one consultations (each lasting at least 30 minutes) with the HaoYue Capital team, giving researchers and innovators direct access to funding expertise.

A heartfelt thank you to all speakers, panellists and attendees for making the event insightful and impactful. We extend special thanks to our co-organisers and partners for their continued support in advancing biomedical innovation.

At the HKUMed Technology Transfer Unit | TTU, we remain dedicated to connecting world-class research with entrepreneurial success through initiatives such as RAISe+.
