Proud to see this landmark breakthrough in universal “off-the-shelf” stem cell therapy emerging from HKU School of Biomedical Sciences

The FailSafe-AlloAccept platform, co-led by Prof. Danny Chan (HKUSBMS) and Prof. Andras Nagy, demonstrates that genome-edited human stem cells can evade immune rejection while incorporating a built-in safety “kill switch”.

This is a critical step toward safe, scalable universal cell sources with transformative potential for conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, and heart failure.

At HKUMed Technology Transfer Unit | TTU, we are committed to supporting the translation of such cutting-edge regenerative medicine research into real-world clinical and commercial solutions, in partnership with industry and global collaborators.
