HKU Leads NSFC/RGC Joint Scheme Awards in 2025/26

HKUMed Technology Transfer Unit is delighted to share that 16 research projects from The University of Hong Kong have secured funding under the NSFC/RGC Joint and Collaborative Research Schemes (2025/26), with total funding exceeding HK$26.5 million. HKU ranked first among all UGC-funded universities in both the number of funded projects and total funding received.

The funded projects cover life sciences, medicine, engineering and materials science, fostering cross-disciplinary and cross-regional collaborations between Hong Kong and Mainland China. HKUMed highlights include:

  • Host Ecology and Genetic Factors of Tick-borne Virus Emergence – Prof. Tommy Tsan-Yuk Lam, School of Public Health
  • Origin and Regulatory Mechanisms of Haematoendothelial and Cardiac Specification – Prof. Rio Sugimura, School of Biomedical Sciences
  • Comparative Anti-tumour Responses of IL-10 Producing Fourth Generation CD19 CAR-T Cells – Prof. Yok-lam Kwong, Department of Medicine
