Showcasing HKUMed Innovations to China’s National Health Commission

On 13 January 2026, HKUMed welcomed a high-level delegation led by Mr Lei Haichao, Minister of the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China. HKUMed Technology Transfer Unit was honoured to support the University during this visit.

A highlight of the programme was a tour of the Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing, where several award-winning healthcare innovations were showcased:

  • SmartRehab – AI-powered platform for personalised home rehabilitation (Prof. Gary Kui Kai Lau)
  • Liver in Cube – precision diagnostics and treatment system for liver cancer (Prof. Nancy Kwan MAN)
  • mskalign – multi-agent intelligent platform for spinal condition management (Dr Teng Grace Zhang)
  • Vitogram® – portable AI-driven cardiac monitor turning smartphones into virtual stethoscopes (Prof. Joshua W. K. Ho and Prof. Chun-Ka Wong)

These projects demonstrate HKUMed’s commitment to bridging research and clinical practice, contributing to the “Healthy China” initiative and strengthening Hong Kong–Mainland collaboration in health technology.
